PAC Lobby Renovation Dedication

Mayor Chris Alahouzos and former KMFF President Sandra Holubar cut the ribbon for the newly renovated lobby of the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center. Photos by Sue Thomas.The Kathleen Monahan Foundation Fund, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial support and enhancements for the Tarpon Arts program and the City of Tarpon Springs, celebrated the newly renovated lobby for the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center (PAC) located in Tarpon Springs City Hall. Members of the KMFF board joined Mayor Chris Alahouzos, City Manager Mark LeCouris, members of the Tarpon Springs Board of Commissioners, and Diane Wood and Kelley Riedy from Tarpon Arts in officially opening the new lobby.

The Nutcracker Ballet

Performed by DanceAlive National Ballet. The Kathleen Monahan Foundation Fund is an annual show sponsor for the Nutcracker at the Performing Arts Center. The event was sold out again this year, with 248 seats sold.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.

The Little Mermaid was an acting workshop for youth at the Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum. The Kathleen Monahan Foundation Fund provided scholarships for 6 youth participating in the workshop. They did 2 sold out performances, 240 seats.
The children in the camp, ranging from age 8 to 16 years old, will culminate 10 weeks of theater training with this professionally produced show. –TB Newspapers Weekley

Mermaid Masquerade Fundraiser
- The Mermaid Masquerade, a fundraiser costume party like no other, was held at the Heritage Museum of Tarpon Springs. Masters of Ceremony were John and Mary K. Wilson. Honorary Chairs Christopher and Kelly Still attended the fundraiser along with Tarpon Springs Mayor Chris Alahousoz and KMF board members. All proceeds benefited the Kathleen Monahan Foundation Fund’s ongoing support of the arts. This under-the-sea festivity offered a fun filled evening with the likes of a tropical buffet dinner and drinks, dancing to the music of the Amanda Keller Band, photo opts with live mermaids, and prizes for best costume and mask.

Beats on the Bayou Gala
- Our annual fundraiser event was held at the Heritage Museum in Tarpon Springs (Craig Park). Hosts were John and Mary K. Wilson, two of the most well-known entertainers in the Tampa Bay area – seen for years in our finest concert halls, parks, community centers and television. They were joined by Tarpon resident and world-renowned artist Christopher M. Still who unveiled his new art installation at the gala, and the multi-talented Bus Stop Band who provided the best in pop, R&B and soul music for a fun evening filled with great food, cocktails, art, music and lots of dancing.

Harry Antonio – One Voice One Guitar

Presented by the Kathleen Monahan Foundation Fund for the Arts to raise funds for arts programming in Tarpon Springs, 2011 The X-Factor winner Harry Antoniou sings American popular favorites and Greek songs. After winning the third season of the Greek X Factor singing Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful to Me,” Antoniou was awarded a two-year contract with Sony Music.

From Pizza to Puccini!

The evening kicked off with Pizza, antipasto, and wine and beer, followed by introductory remarks from Randy Hutchisson. After which, benefit performers, Katie Saunders and David Ott, took the stage.
Soprano Katie Saunders is a classically trained vocalist with a degree in music from Indiana University. She has performed in European opera houses and with international symphonies and orchestras. She also teaches German diction and vocal coaching.
Dr. David Ott is an internationally recognized composer and conductor whose impressive works have been performed and recorded by some of the most notable orchestras in the United States and Europe. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious Music Alive Award, co-sponsored by American Symphony Orchestra League and Meet the Composer. He received his Doctorate in Music Theory & Composition at the University of Kentucky.

Hot 8 Brass Band Brings New Orleans to Town
- June 23, 2012, a day filled with the energy of the Big Easy’s music, culture and food. Children from the Citizen’s Alliance for Progress enjoyed crafts and other activities with New Orleans’ own Hot 8 Brass Band. The jazz group headlined events and lead an enthusiastic group in a New Orleans traditional “second line” parade. Beads and other trinkets were available, heightening the Mardi Gras vib. During evening events at the Performing Arts Center participants enjoyed hot jazz and tasty Cajun fare. Read more about the day’s events.
