The importance of business education has been increasing over the years. Especially in today’s fast-paced world, business education has become important for dealing with the changing market demands. It helps in developing real-world skills as well as assists individuals in achieving and maintaining prosperity.
Amid numerous institutes offering business education today, King Talal School of Business Technology (KTSBT) is distinguishing itself with its specialized programs tailored to modern academic needs. Identifying the current industry demands for MBA graduates, KTSBT seeks aspirants having qualities such as strategic thinking, curiosity, credibility, time management, self-confidence, critical thinking, leadership, etc.
Meeting the Industry Standard
KTSBT is housed under the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT)—a 1991 established pioneering education institute that combines excellence with innovation and provides students with a high-quality education in multiple specializations. PSUT is owned by the Royal Scientific Society (RSS), Jordan’s leading applied research institution. PSUT offers a range of academic disciplines in the fields of Engineering, Computing Sciences, and Business Technology. They are specifically geared to meet the industry expectations and enable students to achieve their objectives and build their futures on a firm academic foundation.
KTSBT was founded in 2006 in response to a decree issued by HRH Princess Sumaya bint EI Hassan—the Chairman of the Board of Trustees—to provide non-traditional, specialized programs focusing on the modern technology requirements in all sectors. KTSBT’s programs meet international, academic, industrial, and economic standards which makes them comparable with the world’s most prestigious business schools. Thus, KTSBT works hard to build academic and administrative leaders who are well-known in Jordan and the region’s business schools. The school aims to achieve its mission by developing highly-qualified business technology students who are capable of learning new skills, competing, and achieving the job market criteria.
A Bouquet of Academic Programs
KTSBT offers bachelor’s programs in Business Information Technology, Business Administration, Accounting, and E-marketing & Social Media. It also offers a Master’s degree in Business Entrepreneurship, which is the first of its kind in Jordan and the region. The program was developed in cooperation with the European Union under the Tempus Project. Additionally, the school currently offers a Master of Business Analytics program, which was launched at the beginning of the academic year 2019/2020. KTSBT has recently established a unique master’s program in e-marketing and social media.
The school has established several collaboration agreements with universities across the world. For instance, KTSBT’s joint program with the Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf offers a postgraduate education opportunity leading to a Master’s degree in European Studies. Likewise, it collaborates with Hasselt University, Belgium, to provide Master’s degrees in Management Information Systems and International Marketing Strategies. The school also collaborates with the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Oakland University, and the University of Arizona.

AACSB International Accreditation
KTSBT is Jordan’s first and only business school to be accredited by the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for all of its programs. The school made a plethora of efforts to achieve the accreditation including reformulating its mission, goals, and strategic plans, improving learning outcomes, formulating policies and measurement systems in teaching and learning, scientific research, academic promotion, governance, academic guidance, and community service.
The AACSB accreditation promotes the school to the ranks of high-quality business schools all over the world. This broadens the fields of collaboration through the school’s alumni who are in great demand in the public and private sectors of the labor market. Alongside attracting high-level teaching faculty, accreditation makes it easier for graduates to gain admission to postgraduate studies at the best international universities.
Celebrating Diversity
Both PSUT and KTSBT’s approach to diversity starts with getting to know the students and their needs, being visible, as well as listening to them and their concerns. Student councils, clubs, and unions allow students to participate in decision-making and representation. Moreover, both educational and extracurricular activities are diverse and inclusive. All the students are provided with a code of conduct that clearly states the appropriate behavior expected of them on campus.
Furthermore, international students are properly cared for at PSUT. They are supported by a deanship of student affairs which provides a variety of services such as housing, health insurance, tutoring, and financial aid. They can celebrate diversity and demonstrate their unique identities through a variety of extracurricular activities. Moreover, PSUT is the formal host for several ERASMUS Plus programs and mobility programs which host hundreds of students and professors each year. This allows participants to have a one-of-a-kind experience and be exposed to a new culture.
The PSUT E-learning Centre
In 2016, PSUT established the e-learning Centre on its campus that has been operating as the hub for distance learning, online courses, and open educational resources. The centre is one of the vital operating units in the university and is connected to the President in the PSUT organizational system. It seeks to create multiple e-learning platforms and services for students, professors, and staff. Additionally, it promotes and improves e-learning methods, enables opportunities for research and innovation in the e-learning field, and provides professional training for both students and instructors to strengthen the overall learning outcomes and teaching methodologies.
Courtesy of the e-learning Centre, KTSBT successfully managed the risk caused due to the pandemic. The school successfully handled the transformation of face-to-face study programs to virtual ones. PSUT uses Moodle LMS—which has been going through periodic updates. This LMS is also integrated with fully licensed Zoom accounts as needed for the faculty members. In the past decade, PSUT participated in more than 30 international projects, from which several projects required hosting a virtual collaborative platform for their stakeholders such as RISE and JOVITAL. Moreover, the PSUT e-learning center conducted multiple workshops for partner institutions and organizations based on one-to-one, one-to-many, and group training formats to ensure a resilient and enriching networking experience.
Moving ahead with the Trends
Despite the significant growth over the past few decades, the APAC region is still dealing with several political and social instabilities and weak infrastructure. KTSBT realized the need to build new market skills to cope with the urgent demand for a more skilled workforce and transform growth from passive to proactive. The school is doing so by providing programs that focus on utilizing industry 4.0, market innovation, workforce reskilling, and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, Global Exposure is one of the most recent trends in educational institutions and among the student community. KTSBT believes that global exposure can help students build unique skills by being exposed to diverse cultures and new experiences and helping educational institutions acquire and exchange knowledge from the outer world. Quality educational infrastructure is essential for providing students with the required educational resources and tools to sustain a quality learning environment.
