Ms. Purchase has had a wide variety of experience working with not-for-profit organizations. In addition to being a registered nurse and a chaplain, she studied music at the Hartt School of Music. Throughout her career, she has worked with children as part of several different churches and other organizations.
After moving to Tarpon Springs from Pennsylvania, her community commitment did not waver. She has served as vice chair of the Tarpon Springs Sister Cities International Committee, president of the Women’s Club of Tarpon Springs, she directs the Tarpon Singers, serves on the Helen Ellis Hospital Memorial Foundation Board, is a member of Rotary, and is involved in many other community activities. As part of her extensive service to others, Betty has served on the Scripture Union, USA, Board of Directors as President of the Americas Region and the International Council, during which time she provided training, encouragement and inspiration for people in 55 countries.
Betty, and her husband, Richard, have been married for 55 years; have 5 children, 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who have collectively named her, most appropriately, “Happy.”
